Picked the keys up this evening and took our TV and phone stuff as Shaw will be going there tomorrow "between 8am and 12". I have been packing madly, I found a free wire basket storage system on Craigslist and the wire basket drawers are great for transporting many items at once to the new place.
We were sent a quote for just removing the asbestos and it was more than Rockridge quoted for the removal AND demo! So we will be going with them. We now have another quandry as the asbestos removers need warm water, and Central Saanich won't give a demolition permit until the services are capped. I hope that it can be easily worked out.
We were contemplating putting in a temporary power pole to keep power in the garage for my freezer, but the freezer will fit very nicely into the rental kitchen.

We are starting the building process!!
Hubby took the afternoon off work and we took the Brentwood Bay Bay ferry to Mill Bay. We then went to Pacific Homes and ordered the plans. The architect is in Calgary that will draw them up.This costs $2000 but we will get $1000 back when we buy our home kit.
We then went to the place where we had bought our wood burning fireplace insert. We were there for two reasons, to check out the zero clearance fireplaces and to find out how to remove our fireplace with the least damage.
After that we drove down towards the return ferry but stopped at the old Fridays restaurant. It has a new name now. Had great "lupper"- mixture between lunch and supper!Then came home.

Well, we are on our way!!
We finally have our elevation survey done so have made an appointment with our Pacific Homes' man for Monday.Hubby will take the afternoon off work and we will take the Mill Bay Ferry over.
An awkward thing happened yesterday, my Arborist has triumphed over his pneumonia and came to assess my trees so I can get a permit for their removal. When he got out of his truck the dog next door barked at him so he went to pet her. I know this dog is vicious so warned him but it was too late, he didn't even have his hand over or near the fence and the dog lunged up and bit his hand, drawing blood.This man had extensive experience teaching police dogs and he says this dog is a loose cannon and needs to be stopped. Well, he must have reported it to the police as they came and so did the animal control. I think the dog is still there but don't know what will happen. I hope this doesn't spoil the good relationship we have with our neighbour.

Yahoo!!!! We got the rental.
Phone call came this evening that we are the lucky people that will be renting the basement suite.They want a pet damage deposit too as well as the basic one. What a relief,I really didn't want to have to start looking again.
The"asbestos" guy, from one of the demolition companies we had contacted, came today and checked out where the asbestos was and he feels that since so little of the gyproc doesn't have asbestos it would be cheapest to remove all of it and call it hazardous! Doesn't make sense to me.

Roller-Coaster ride again!
Well, we thought we had found a place to move into while we do all this STUFF. Now they are "going to get back to you in a couple of days"!
Meanwhile we haven't heard back from the Credit union re:- financing, the Arborist so we can cut down a tree and the surveyor with the results of the elevation survey.
I have decided to retire as an RN as of June1/2010. This is for my convenience as I won't have to worry about meetings and continuing education etc.I think most of my clients will remain, it's just they cannot claim me on their income tax and I can't bill through the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Hubby has made an opening into the attic of the garage and we have started filling boxes and storing things up there.

Good Day Today.
- Awoke full of energy.
- Surveyor came and will send report next week.
- I phoned utility company with questions re stopping services.
- I posted want ads for accommodation on May 1/10 at store and library.
- Posted Hubby's car parts on Ford Barn.
- Posted ads for rentals May1/10 on Craigslist and Used Victoria.
- Have had a few replies for the ads so hope that bodes well for finding a spot.
