Happy Halloween!!

Busy week-end. We scraped the cement off the boards used for the foundations as we will hang onto them for the build of the second house. We were finishing up this afternoon to go home for supper and a rest but lo and behold a truck carrying an excavator came down the hill! I said "That's for us!" Hubby said "I don't think so" Sure enough it was our friendly excavator man to dig the trenches as he has arranged for the drain installer to come tomorrow and plumbing inspection is booked for Tuesday!!!
We had to quickly move some boards where they were going to dig and watched as this man moved soil with a precision that astounded me. He has to watch for the pipes that are in the ground that the plumber will hook up our drains to.
I have to meet the drain guy tomorrow to show him where we will want our downspouts as they are not on the plans.

Surprise!

Went by the house, after a lunch out with girlfriends, to find a stranger spraying black weatherproofing on our foundations!! So I guess this was next! He was hired by our friend with the excavating company. We were waiting for him to let us know this guys phone number so WE could call him!!! Good friend to have.

Foundations are stripped,now what?

Spoke with our builder today and we will next see him once the drains, backfill, crawl space slabs and the groundseal are done. We have contacted our helpful excavator guy and he will put us in touch with a spray on groundseal person.
We will have to pump out the building site before these take place but with rain expected we will wait till the last minute.

The Excavation/swimming pool

As you can see it rained. Poor guy forgot his boots and rain gear but went ahead and put in the footings. He has also told us we may have to wait a couple of weeks for the foundations as he is " a little busy right now"! He did say we can call someone else if we are in a hurry . Hubby phoned the man that is assembling the house and he was in Vegas! He still answered his phone and will connect with us on Wednesday. There is good and bad with him doing the foundations, good... he will be doing whole build and we can fix any height discrepancies as we go along. Bad... he doesn't have the pre-formed foundation forms like our present guy has..so more money for time and supplies.
Come Tuesday we will have to rent a Slinger Truck and get some gravel put into the base of the excavation. Hubby may have to take some time off work , we'll see.

Some progress.

In the last few days we have had a porta-poti for the workers delivered. The corners of the house have been marked in the deep hole and we have changed the plans so the garage and front entrance are level so the entry ways will have no steps. Nice for visitors with gait difficulties.
I have also started the Course of Construction insurance and the foundation guy starts Saturday.
The bad news is we are due rain for the weekend and our plot is solid clay so will become a mud-hole easily. The foundation guy isn't concerned. I have to try to get to the property as Sleggs delivers some supplies as there will be Sono tubes for the support beams and they are made of cardboard and rain will not help them!
