Walkabout results.

We met a local builder at the property and he talked with us about our hopes for this build and questioned us regarding now extravagant we are wanting to go with finishes etc.

Earlier in the day I paid for our temporary power pole, we have bought it rather than rent it as that works out cheaper and we can sell it when this whole process is over. I also wanted it paid before the HST starts tomorrow!

We're Back!

We had four wonderfully lazy, warm, sunny,no responsibility,no cooking, no worrying about the house, days! Hot tub, shopping, BBQ with all Edmonton family, meals out, reading, rubbing Boomer-doggie's belly and ears!
Back to rain and two quotes for building the house. Do walkabout at the lot tomorrow with another builder and still waiting for two other companies to submit their quotes.

Time for a blog break!

Hi All, Hubby and I are going to visit my brother in Edmonton from Friday to Tuesday next week. They just returned a couple of weeks ago from a trip to China and Vietnam so we will get to see their photos as there was censorship in China that didn't allow social networking. We will spend some time in the Mall and of course have dinner one night at "Tony Roma's" as it is my husband's favourite.
Looks like Victoria will have nice weather while the forecast for Edmonton has a lot of showers!!!
On the home front we are meeting one of the builders on Wednesday at the property to look the job over.

No House!

The demo went well, the sewer line was not affected and we have a shallower flat lot. This will cause us to have more concrete as you are not allowed to build forms on fill!

We picked out our siding colours, roof pattern, shingle style, door styles, door handles etc. We are getting lever type handles as they are easier for all ages to open.

First quote for the build is in.It's from the man who has built many of these homes.

Demolition Day.

Finally, this afternoon the house was demolished. Their equipment had been held up on another job-site because of a disagreement with an engineer over 1/2" on a rock!!! They will remove all the bits either this afternoon or first thing Monday then Central Saanich will be on hand while they remove the stumps.

Progress!!

A lot can happen in two days. The plans are being printed as I write, the house is being demolished tomorrow (Thursday) and the tree stumps will be removed on Friday with the Municipality standing by in case of sewer pipe disruption. All of this is a lovely birthday present (Saturday).
We phoned the builders we had lined up and one of them can't start till October! Any followers know of a builder that might be available to give us a price?

The weekends' events.

Well, we moved all the wood that we could onto the other lot. Luckily I have a standing appointment with my massage therapist and chiropractor today!!

We decided to purchase a metal garden shed to store the contents of the one that has to be removed for the sewer replacement. It took the two of us just over 8 solid hours to complete it.

Today, I picked up our Demolition Permit-finally. Another $605. Now I have to coordinate the demolition guy with the Municipality so they can be on site in case the demolisher breaks my neighbours sewer line when they remove the tree stumps!

Some progress and a big depression!

Well, the temporary power pole is hooked up

and the trees are down.
We worked Friday afternoon, Sunday afternoon and are going back this evening with help from my son, to move as much of the potential firewood away from the demolition site.A lot of the butts are roll able and we bought a chain saw to cut up branches. The Tsartlip band uses 5-6foot logs in their ceremonies so there is one that wasn't cut into butts and they can have it.
On the downside the Municipality wants to renew the sewer pipe right back to our neighbours fence line so that will mean tearing down the garden shed and removing the concrete that it sits on!The shed is being used for all my garden tools plus storage, I suppose we will have to finally rent a storage locker.
